The daily scooter race about to start in Hanoi (there's over three million of them!) One of the Chinese Junk (yes that's what they're really called) boats in Halong bay One of several floating villages in Halong bay A huge cave in one of the karst islands in Halong bay (during the French war over a 1,000 Vietnamese used this as a hideaway) A lovely view from the mouth of the cave A scene from another era - these days the Junks mainly use their motors to get around the bay Sunset in Halong bay The moon rising over Halong bay A local fishing boat Passing by a floating village on our kayak Kellee looking back to make sure Conor is still paddling! A viewpoint on Cat Ba island - the largest in the bay and the only one that is inhabited The citadel in Hue which was taken by the North Vietnamese Army for 3.5 weeks before it was retaken. The scene of much death and destruction Along with the ghosts of the soldiers who died a most violent death here, all that remains is the bombed out and bullet scarred skeleton of the church jsut south of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Mr Anh, our guide and Vietnam vet (he was chief scout working with the Americans for over two years in the DMZ) telling us how he lost close friends inside this former Catholic church in a fierce battle between the Americans and Viet Cong Front view of the church, the battle for which also sparked the first bombing of Hanoi During the days of the heaviest fighting in the DMZ, this spot was where the Con Thien firebase was situated; 6 platoons lived here - just beyond the tree is where the mess tents used to be The command bunker at Con Thien Firebase - this would have been covered with a further 3 metres of sand bags War memorial at a North Vietnamese cemetery by the DMZ The Ho Chi Minh trail once crossed the river at this point in the DMZ Our guide crossing the bridge over the Ben Hai river, which was the demarcation between North and South Vietnam (running almost precisely along the 17th parallel) Kellee entering the infamous Vinh Moc tunnels, which was used as a hideout and storage bunker for North Vietnamese in order to supply the Viet Cong in the south by way of the Ho Chi Minh trail The end of an unfogettable and emotinally draining tour of the DMZ with Mr Anh Coulourful lanterns along the riverside in Hoi An Champa ruins in My Son, just outside of Hoi An, dating back to the 4th century Enjoying refreshments in Hoi An with our travel companions, Stephen & Agnes Kellee finally found a stylist in Asia who knew what to do with her unruly hair A first for us: a giant jellyfish elegantly gliding by during one of our dives off Nha Trang An enormous conger eel waiting for lunch to swim by The new Saigon: Uncle Ho and Uncle Louis coexisting peacefully The war room at the presidential palace in Ho Chi Minh city (formerly Saigon) Guinness finally found the Irish boys in Saigon

A far-off shot of the Rhinoceros Hornbill Probiscus monkeys settling in for the night atop the highest trees in the jungle An unusual Nudibranch (sea slug) A striking starfish in the waters around Mabul island, off the SE coast of Malaysian Borneo Try and spot the Crocodile fish! An enormous Lionfish Another undercover creature (Stonefish) A young girl taking advantage of the low tide to expertly collect sea urchins Showing off the day's catch Back to the dive boat after lunch on Mabul The oil rig cum dive resort, under which lay an aquatic playground of beautiful corals and abundant marine life A Cornet fish If you look closely at the centre you can just make out the rare and extremely difficult to spot Pygmy Seahorse A rather ugly and unusual fish whose name we forgot! One of many reef sharks around the Sipidan island - this one is about 6 feet long A Napoleon Wrasse - in reality it's about the same size as Kellee! One of the countless turtles around Sipidan - this one is sleeping, and again is much larger than he/she appears in the photo (about 5 feet long) The rest area on the beach of the tiny island of Sipidan, which is actually the pinnacle of a limestone chimney rising over 1,000 metres from the seabed creating incomparable diving opportunities Our first cave dive! Not for the faint of heart, but we should point out that those are not in fact human skulls floating from the signpost! A bearded pig, endemic to Borneo Towering primary rainforest trees, some of which live to be over 400 years old The surreal experience of walking across the canopy walkway (25m up) at dawn Crowded treetops - a view only seen in deep primary rainforest, unravaged by logging Everything in sight teems with life The view from our lodge of the dense foliage above the Danum river Tarzan-like vines which seem to wind their way endlessly through the forest Rather cute Lantern bugs, mating Parasitic vine enveloping a tree - it will take 150 years to kill the tree A Bornean pheasant spotted on a forest trek
